Top Drawer: Part One (Things to Keep)

By Daisy Barnes

Oh Top Drawer. The Oscars of retail, it draws in the crème de la crème of product designers worldwide. Buyers come from all over to buy their stock for the coming year. Journalists come to learn about the designers and makers stories and do their part in helping these creative businesses on their way. Top Drawer is BIG. Held at Kensington Olympia's mega venue it is a maze you cannot avoid getting lost in. It is a merry-go-round of creativity and newness and my absolute, total favourite place to be.

Splitting my edit into two articles (things to keep, below) and (things to give here) I am thrilled to present these covetable creators.

Admittedly you could give away these beautiful candles by Jade Beason, Founder and Maker at She London but you won't want to. The Vivienne Westwood of the candle world, these design-led, anti-twee scents boast bold, urban and contemporary packaging. Handmade in London, there are five scents, each at £26.

The wondrous Sevak Zargarian makes ceramics using amongst others the very handsome 'speckled' terrazzo process, which I can't help falling for every time. Working from his garden studio at home, the  unearthed interiors collection is my favourite.

I only got to glimpse at Disciple Skincare whilst navigating the Top Drawer maze but I was drawn to their simple, sexy branding from across the room. Their products are jam-packed with non-toxic plant based marvels, engineered to get any tired and clogged skin back to its fighting best.
